True Love - Part 1
This exposition of 1 John 4:7-8 takes us deep into the very essence of what true love really is. We discover that genuine, God-like love isn't something we can manufacture on our own—it flows directly from the character of God Himself. The passage reveals three foundational truths: God is the source of true love, God is the strength that empowers true love in our lives, and God is the ultimate substance of what love actually means. Unlike the fleeting, conditional love we see in the world around us—love that fades when circumstances change or people disappoint us—divine love is undeserved, unconditional, unceasing, unstoppable, unrelenting, and unselfish. This teaching challenges us to examine our own hearts: Do we love with this kind of supernatural love? The presence or absence of God-like love in our lives serves as powerful evidence of whether we truly know God in a saving relationship. For believers, this isn't just theological information—it's a call to action. We're invited to be imitators of God, displaying His love to one another in ways that make the world stop and wonder what's different about us. The beautiful promise is that if we've been born again, this love has already been poured into our hearts, and God is actively working to mature and perfect it within us.
